How VDT Token Burning Works: Deflationary Economics Explained

Vendetta Saloon operates on a deflationary model. VDT supply is fixed, there is no mint function, and the treasury periodically burns VDT on-chain. This isn't a marketing gimmick. The burns are transactions to a dead address on Polygon, each one has a hash, and anyone can verify the running total at any time.

Here's how the economics break down: when a player places a bet with VDT-backed chips, the VDT behind those chips is split the instant the bet is placed, three ways. The house pool pays out winners, the progressive jackpot system feeds the Mini, Major and Grand tiers, and the treasury funds operations, staking rewards and burns. Nothing is taken out of your bet and burned. The per-bet burn rate is zero and has been since launch, deliberately, because a micro-burn on every wager is just a quieter way of lowering your payout. Burns come out of the house's own share instead. The contract hard-codes a safety floor ensuring the winner pool can never drop below 30%, protecting players from any governance attack.

One important distinction: burns only apply to chips backed by real VDT deposits. Welcome bonuses, referral bonuses, and promotional chips are completely burn-exempt,they play at their full face value. This is a deliberate design choice. Burning free chips would silently reduce their actual worth and erode player trust. More activity means a larger treasury, which means larger burns, which, all else being equal, creates deflationary pressure on VDT. Players enjoy their games and the token benefits from the volume, without a single chip being shaved off any individual wager to pay for it.

Over time this reduces the total supply of VDT, which, all else being equal, increases the share of the remaining supply that every other holder owns. The more activity the Saloon sees, the more the treasury has to burn. Burns are periodic and announced rather than continuous, so they arrive as events you can check rather than as a number ticking quietly in the background.
