How VDT Token Burning Works: Deflationary Economics Explained

Vendetta Saloon operates on a deflationary model where every real-money wager permanently removes VDT tokens from circulation. This isn't a marketing gimmick — the burns happen on-chain through our ChipVault smart contract on Polygon, and anyone can verify the total burned at any time.

Here's how the economics break down: when a player places a bet with VDT-backed chips, the VDT behind those chips is split the instant the bet is placed. A portion is burned forever — sent to a dead address that no one controls. The remainder is split between the house pool (which pays out winners), the progressive jackpot system (Mini, Major, and Grand tiers), and the treasury. The current burn rate is displayed live on the site and is adjustable by governance — but the contract hard-codes a safety floor ensuring the winner pool can never drop below 30%, protecting players from any governance attack.

One important distinction: burns only apply to chips backed by real VDT deposits. Welcome bonuses, referral bonuses, and promotional chips are completely burn-exempt — they play at their full face value. This is a deliberate design choice. Burning free chips would silently reduce their actual worth and erode player trust.
