Sheriff's Vault Update,Active Stakers Only, Starting June 2

May 19, 2026 · Vendetta Saloon · 5 min read

Sheriff's Vault is moving to a fixed cadence with an activity requirement. Starting 2026-06-02 at 00:00 UTC, payouts run every 10 days, and to earn your share of any cycle you must place at least 10 real-chip bets during that cycle's 10-day window. Rewards that would have gone to inactive stakers stay in the treasury, funding future cycles, scheduled burns, and operations. The principal stays staked, the lock period and tier structure don't change, and you can withdraw on the same terms as before once your lock expires.

The headline change is the bet gate. Until now, anyone with a locked position automatically earned a pro-rata share of every distribution, regardless of whether they played. That made staking attractive as a passive yield product, but it disconnected the program from what Sheriff's Vault is actually for: rewarding the players who keep the saloon alive. Going forward, your stake earns when you play. If you place at least 10 real-chip bets across all our games in the cycle window, you earn your full share. If you place fewer than 10, your would-be share returns to the treasury. The principal isn't touched. You can resume earning on the next cycle by becoming active again.

Ten bets is a low bar by design. Across the eleven live games, a 10-bet minimum at the 100-chip global minimum bet works out to 1,000 chips wagered per 10-day cycle. For a Settler-tier staker (100,000 VDT locked), that's a one percent of your stake activity threshold. For a Sheriff at 10,000,000 VDT, it's the same flat 10 bets and 1,000-chip floor. We chose a flat threshold over one that scales with stake size because the program rewards engagement, not capital, and we want whales and small stakers held to the same activity standard.

The cadence change matters too. We've been distributing manually every two to four weeks, which is operationally noisy and unpredictable for stakers. The 10-day cron locks the schedule. Cycle one of the new system covers 2026-06-02 to 2026-06-12, distribution fires at 00:10 UTC on 2026-06-13, and so on every ten days. If you stake mid-cycle you wait one cycle before becoming eligible, so a mid-window entrant won't get a pro-rated micro-payout based on three days of stake history. Cleaner, more predictable, easier to plan around.

Pool sizing is changing too, and this one is in your favor. Until now, distributions were sized as a percentage of the operator wallet's VDT balance, which technically meant the system could tap into staked principal under a high distribution percentage setting. The new pool is sized directly from cycle wager volume: pool equals one and three-quarters percent of total real-chip VDT wagered across all eleven games during the cycle window. That's a clean mapping from platform activity to staker rewards, with no path for the math to ever touch principal. The one-and-three-quarter percent figure is thirty-five percent of the five-percent treasury cut from each wager. The remaining sixty-five percent of treasury still funds burns, affiliate rev-share, and operations.

Forfeited rewards stay in the treasury, not redirected to active stakers. Every cycle, the total amount that would have gone to inactive stakers is recorded in the cycle's distribution document, but the VDT itself never leaves the operator wallet,it remains in the treasury and is available for future cycles, scheduled burns, and operations. The cycle audit is visible in the COO dashboard transparency view: total distributed, total returned to treasury, qualified count, forfeited count. The point of the bet gate isn't to pay active stakers more, it's to make sure rewards go to players who are actually keeping the saloon alive.

Tier weights and the activity multiplier are unchanged. A Settler stake at 100,000 VDT carries a 1× weight. A Gunslinger at 500,000 carries 2×. An Outlaw at 2,000,000 carries 4×. A Sheriff at 10,000,000 carries 10×. On top of that, your all-time wagering history multiplies your effective weight: New players at 1.00×, Regular at 1.10×, Veteran at 1.25×, High Roller at 1.50×. A Sheriff with High Roller activity history hits the documented maximum effective weight of 15× a base Settler's share. None of that math changes. What changes is whether you earn this cycle's share at all, that's now gated on placing 10 bets, regardless of tier.

Existing locked stakers: nothing happens until 2026-06-02. The 14-day notice gives every current staker time to either start playing or accept the activity gate. If you're not planning to keep playing the saloon, you can request an unstake on your normal terms once your lock expires (30 days from each top-up). If you're going to keep playing, you're already doing what the new system is asking, most of our active stakers cleared 10 bets a week ago. No action required on your end; the bet counter is automatic and visible at /staking once V2 goes live.

Why now: we built Sheriff's Vault as a way for players who believe in Vendetta Saloon to share in the platform's revenue. Across the first three distributions we noticed the program was paying meaningful VDT to stakers who hadn't placed a wager in weeks. That's a marketing budget, not a player loyalty program. The new rules tighten the alignment, your stake is your stake, but your share of treasury comes from being part of the game, not just owning a slice of it. We expect distribution sizes per active staker to go up under the new system because the burned share isn't dilution from inactive participants. If you're playing already, this is a tailwind, not a headwind.

Questions: ask in the Telegram or Discord channels. Operational details and the live cycle countdown are on /staking. The transparency view at /coo-dashboard publishes every cycle's pool size, qualified count, forfeited count, distributed total, and burn tx hash within minutes of cron execution. Verify everything. Trust nothing without a hash to check it against.
